Visitors throng Riyadh Zoo on weekends

JEDDAH: A relatively inexpensive way for a family outing is to visit Riyadh Zoo, with its variety of wild animals, parks and rides for children.
Entry costs a mere SR10 for adults, SR5 for children and is absolutely free for infants. There is an extra SR2 charged for children wanting to have a ride on the toy train.
The zoo is crowded with visitors at the weekends and especially school holidays such as the recent mid-year break. Everyone seemed to have a good time last Thursday interacting with the animals, including happily snapping away with their cameras.
Maryam, an International Indian School student, who visited the zoo with her parents, was seen excitedly queuing up to ride on the toy train. Nasser Abdullah, a grade four student, who had come with his parents, was seen craning his neck to see the elephants.
Abu Saleh, a visitor, was impressed with the way the authorities have been taking care of the animals and keeping the place clean. Another visitor, Abdullah, said he came to enjoy the pleasant winter weather.
